Horses - Are pray animals and therefore are
good at masking their pain. As a result their pain
goes unnoticed by the owner until the problem
becomes to great to mask.
Furthermore, horses are particularly vulnerably to
subluxations because of all the unnatural
demands we put on them. For example wearing
a saddle that is made for the riders comfort, not
the horse can cause problems in the horse's
neck and back. Also many riding styles require
the horse to hold it's head in a unnatural position,
stressing the neck and surrounding musculature.
Improper shoeing can also lead to gait changes.
Gait abnormalities due to a problem in one leg
will eventually cause stress in others joints in the
body. All these activities and many more can
cause stress on their spine. But, because of their
desire to please us, they often perform these
activities although they may be experiencing pain.
A chiropractic examination can determine if your
horse has a biomechanical dysfunction due to
subluxations before it becomes evident.
Your horse may benefit from chiropractic care if
they exhibit one or more of these signs:
- Decrease in level of performance or
stamina
- Difficulty performing desired movements
- Behavior changes (refusal, bucking, head
shy, cinchy)
- Abnormal head carriage or fighting bit
- Short stride, uneven stride, toe dragging,
stumbling, forging and uneven shoe wear
- Muscle imbalance, spasms or atrophy
- Gait problems, loss of collection, refusal to
pick up lead
- Injuries resulting from fall, training or other
activities
- Stressful situations
- Chronics disease conditions, repetitive
infections, weak immune system
- Diagnosed degenerative arthritis
- Abnormal posture when standing
- Holding tail to one side

Dogs - Although domesticated, dogs response
to pain indistinctually. Like their ancestors they
are pack animals and hide their afflictions to
avoid being killed by the stronger pack members.
Often, the owner is unaware of problems until
major changes occur in the dog's gait or
behavior. Most dogs today have lifestyles that
are very different from what nature intended.
Dogs competing in activities such as agility, fly
ball, frisbee and dock diving are vulnerable to
subluxations due to the physical demands that
are placed on them during competition. Even a
dog that does not compete can develop
subluxations from things such as: constant lead
pressure, while being walked. Being confined to
crates or small back yards which does not allow
for adequate exercise or the muscles of the
abdomen and back to be stretched can also lead
to subluxations. Being overweight also causes
stress to the joints of the legs and spine. Age
can also lead to spinal problems due to
intervertebral disc degeneration and scar tissue
which lead to lost of mobility.
A chiropractic examination can determine if your
dog has a biomechanical dysfunction due to
subluxation before it becomes evident.
Your dog may benefit from chiropractic care if
they exhibit one or more of these signs:
- Decrease in level of performance or
stamina
- Problems executing desired movement
(jumping on the couch, agility obstacles,
climbing stairs)
- Behavior changes (snapping, refusal to
play)
- Problems eating or chewing
- Short stride, uneven stride, nail dragging,
stumbling or limping
- Muscle imbalances, spasms or atrophy
- Shaking head, constant ear problems or
allergies
- Loss of balance and circling
- Injuries resulting from fall, training or
other activities
- Stressful situations such as, poor
confirmation or change in performance
level and ability of the dog
- Diagnosed condition such as:
degenerative arthritis, repetitive infections
or week immune system and chronic
disease conditions
Any creature that has a spine could develop biomechanical dysfunctions due to subluxations.
These subluxation are usually caused by three things: Trauma, Toxins and Stress
